Star Citizen Alpha 2.1 Available!

We are excited to announce that Star Citizen Alpha 2.1.0 is now available on the Live server for all players via the Star Citizen launcher. Alpha 2.1 features an array of bug fixes and balance updates aimed at enhancing the Star Citizen experience. Thanks to expert testing from backers on the PTU, we’ve been able to significantly improve the experience and stability of Star Citizen from the December 2.0 release. We’d like to thank everyone in the community who contributed their time and effort to making this patch happen!

In addition to these fixes, Alpha 2.1 features two new flyable ships in Crusader: the MISC Freelancer and the Aegis Vanguard Warden. (Surprise!) The Aegis Sabre is now hangar ready, for those eager to explore their brand new space superiority fighters! There’s more to discover in Crusader as well, including a new type of mission surrounding the Covalex Shipping hub. Words have the power to inspire, but they can also backfire. My name’s Parker Terrell and I’m here to clear away the cloud of confusion with the Plain Truth.

I want to start off today talking about a recent comm I received from a passionate individual. A firm believer in the truth, he was looking to enlighten his friends as to what is really going on in this Empire. Unfortunately, he found himself having problems convincing them. He relates in the comm how their stubbornness leads to him sometimes getting overly passionate, i.e. screaming his head off. He wanted my advice on how he could go about converting his friends and not lose all of them in the process.

I tried to explain to him that the way we deliver our message is as important as the message we deliver. History has proven that words determine how wars are waged and won. We can’t just win the war of ideas; we must also win the war of words.

Turns out, he just started arguing with me, so it seemed like a good idea to address this issue with the rest of you.

With that in mind, I contacted Clair Rios and asked if she could come on and help explain that subtle distinction. Clair is a Nyx resident, and proud owner of Café Musain in Levski, so she knows a few things about conversing with a wide range of people. She was kind enough to take a little time out of her supply run to swing by the show and chat.

As a lifelong resident of Levski, Clair believes in many things that I don’t care for or that I even find foolish, like the complete overthrow of the UEE government. Yet I’m always willing to hear her out and sometimes even find myself slightly persuaded by her arguments. That’s why I asked her here today to teach how to best argue your beliefs without driving the opposing party away. Thanks for doing this, Clair.

Monthly Studio Report December
Greetings Citizens,

2015 was quite a year for Star Citizen! Since the launch of Alpha 2.0, the team has been glued to their monitors watching backers stream and play and adventure in the first corner of the universe we’re building. There’s plenty of work still to be done, but we’re thrilled to have a version of the game available for play that (we believe) shows the project’s true potential. We hope you’re enjoying 2.0 (or 2.1, if you’re a fan of the PTU!)… there’s plenty more to see in the coming days! But before we look ahead, we’d like to look back at what everyone accomplished in December. Cloud Imperium Games closed for the holidays, allowing our developers some much needed rest and family time… but that doesn’t mean we didn’t make a lot of progress. Happy New Year everyone! We hope you had a great month because we are really excited by what we got finished before the calendar turned over to 2016. We tackled some huge milestones such as the new ItemSystem, Loadout Editor, Character Clothing and more. Dig in to the information below to read about even more accomplishments from the LA studio.


On the Engineering side, our primary objective was to provide as much stability to the 2.0 release as possible. As new builds of the PTU were released over the course of December, the stability in each iteration drastically improved. Stability will always be one of our top objectives as providing a reliable and exciting experience is a prime directive.

was leechin off an aciedo out in davien when i scanned a thick trunk sectored off. had to be an imp line. no one else moves that much, that secure. took a bit of elbow but got to take drink off the cordoned stream but took only about 3ms before security walls snapped down. never seen anything that fast. gonna take me a few cycles to figure out how the hell they did that. they had tracers flying before i could unclench but i got away clean by my skin.
